Yokogawa Electric Corporation SB401-11 Bus Interface Module

The Yokogawa SB401-11 (Style S1) ESB Bus Interface Slave Module is used to enable communication between control systems and distributed I/O in CENTUM VP and related DCS architectures. It provides the link between field control units, node units, and I/O modules over the Enhanced System Bus (ESB), ensuring reliable, synchronized data exchange for continuous plant operation. Typical data transmission is around 128 Mbps, with support for up to about 9 nodes (system dependent), and dual-redundant operation is common (installed in pairs). The module draws ~0.5 A, measures about 224 × 24 × 150 mm, and weighs roughly 1–2 kg, and is rack-mounted within a node or interface unit. It is compatible with CENTUM VP and CENTUM CS systems and their FIO/ESB node units, and finds use in industrial environments such as chemical processing, oil & gas, power generation, and manufacturing plants.
