Turck BI5-M18-VN4X Inductive Proximity Sensor

The Turck BI5-M18-VN4X is a 5 mm sensing-distance inductive proximity sensor housed in a chrome-plated brass M18 x 1 threaded barrel with a 50 mm barrel length for reliable non-contact metal detection in industrial automation. It provides normally open and normally closed outputs on a 4-wire NPN complementary configuration, suitable for PLC-controlled position sensing and machine interlocks across packaging machinery, conveyors, assembly equipment, and robotic cells. Operated from 10–65 VDC with a 200 mA maximum switching current and up to 500 Hz switching frequency, it uses an integral 2 m cable for straightforward wiring. The full-threaded flush-mount design and IP67-rated enclosure withstands demanding environments from -25°C to +70°C. Built-in reverse polarity protection, short-circuit protection, and an LED indicator aid diagnostics, while compatibility with common Turck replacements such as BI5-M18-AN6X, BI5-M18-AP6X, and BI5U-M18-VN4X-H1141 supports retrofit or expansion in automated lines.
