Tri-Tronics SEIT Photoelectric Sensor

The Tri-Tronics SEIT Photoelectric Sensor is a non-contact object detector designed for industrial automation, delivering fast, reliable sensing in packaging lines, conveyors, and material handling equipment. As a member of the SMARTEYE Mark II family, it uses an infrared LED at 880 nm to sense presence or absence of objects and supports product detection, registration mark sensing, positioning, counting, and conveyor monitoring. The device operates from 12–24 VDC and provides two transistor outputs—one NPN and one PNP—each capable of up to 150 mA. Its response times are 50 µs in the light state and 140 µs in the dark state, with adjustable sensitivity via a potentiometer and Enhanced Dynamic Range (EDR). Visual feedback includes a 10-bar Contrast Indicator, an Output LED, and an EDR LED. It features reverse polarity and momentary short-circuit protection and is built for harsh environments with enclosure ratings of NEMA 4X, NEMA 6P, and IP67, and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +70°C. Typical installations include packaging equipment, bottling lines, food processing systems, pharmaceutical machinery, electronics assembly, and general material handling. Common replacements include TRI-TRONICS SEI, SEIF1, and SEIO2.
