Timken 457585 Single Lip Rotary Shaft Oil Seal

The Timken 457585 National Oil Seal is a single-lip, spring-loaded shaft seal designed to retain lubricants and prevent dirt, moisture, and other contaminants from entering rotating shaft systems. It uses an inch-based bore with a shaft ID of 4.562 in, an outer diameter of 6.265 in, and a width of 0.500 in, and features a solid construction with inner case and a nitrile (NBR) lip. The seal is rated for continuous operation from -40°F to 225°F (-40°C to 107°C) and a maximum shaft surface speed of 3000 ft/min, with misalignment tolerance of 0.015 in at 800 rpm and 0.010 in at 4200 rpm. Part of Timken’s Series 450000 (design Type 45), it is commonly applied in industrial gearboxes, pumps, electric motors, conveyors, manufacturing equipment, and mining machinery to prevent lubricant leakage and contaminant ingress; it is used for equipment replacement, rebuilds, retrofits, and preventive maintenance to extend component life. Common replacements include SKF equivalents, CR (Chicago Rawhide) equivalents, and other National 450000 Series seals.
