Timken 455556 Single Lip Oil Seal

The Timken 455556 is a single-lip oil seal with a spring designed to retain lubricant and prevent dirt, moisture, and other contaminants from entering rotating shaft systems. It features an inner solid case construction with NBR (nitrile) lip material at 60–80 durometer, sized for a 2.875 in (73.03 mm) shaft, with a 4.381 in (111.28 mm) outer diameter and 0.625 in (15.88 mm) overall width. As part of Timken's 450000 series and branded as National, it is intended for general-purpose rotating equipment in industrial gearboxes, pumps, electric motors, conveyors, manufacturing and mining machinery, helping reduce lubricant leakage and contaminant ingress while tolerating a misalignment of 0.015 in at 800 rpm or 0.010 in at 4200 rpm and handling a maximum shaft surface speed of 3000 ft/min. The seal operates from -40°F to 225°F (-40°C to 107°C), weighs about 0.60 lb, and is commonly replaced by SKF or Chicago Rawhide equivalents within the National 450000 series when retrofitting or performing preventive maintenance.
