Spirax Sarco Freezeton III 1/2NPT Temperature Actuated Drain Trap

Spirax Sarco Freezeton III Temperature Actuated Drain Trap, 1/2 in NPT, is a stainless steel-bodied, thermostatically controlled condensate drain with a brass actuator designed to protect water and condensate lines from freezing. It can be mounted in either vertical or horizontal orientations, and its tamper‑proof, sealed thermostat opens and closes automatically as ambient conditions change: it cracks open at 35°F (2°C), is fully open at 32°F (0°C), and closes tightly at 40°F (4°C), providing a controlled discharge across a 0–200 psig operating range. The ½‑inch NPT connection specifies the threaded inlet/outlet, and the unit must discharge to zero atmospheric pressure to avoid thermostat damage, with pipe connections never welded. For proper service, place an isolation valve ahead of the trap to permit removal without draining the entire system; vertical installation is preferred where space allows, while horizontal runs should be pitched toward the trap. When used on steam service or hot condensate, ensure the trap is located at least about 6 inches from external devices to prevent thermal interference.
