Spence Engineering NTD-600S Thermodynamic Trap
Spence Engineering NTD-600S Thermodynamic Trap
Description:
Spence NTD600S Thermodynamic Steam Trap is a compact, all‑stainless‑steel trap designed for steam lines rated up to 600 psig (41.3 barg) and temperatures as high as 800°F (426°C). As the NTD600 family with an integral strainer, it pairs a hardened stainless steel disc and seat with a built‑in screen to catch entrained solids, simplifying maintenance. The NTD600S operates on the thermodynamic cycle where flashing condensate creates a pressure differential that lifts the disc to discharge, then reseats as flash vapor condenses, providing automatic venting and protection against water hammer. Construction is all stainless steel (body in 420 stainless, cap and disc in 416 stainless, screen in stainless steel), with the strainer integrated into the body; weights range from about 0.8 to 3.1 lb depending on size. The trap offers a pressure range of 2 to 600 psig and a maximum operating/allowable pressure of 600 psig, with a maximum temperature rating of 800°F (426°C). It is suitable for vertical or horizontal installation and is commonly used for steam tracing, drips, and heating applications, delivering reliable discharge with minimal moving parts and robust corrosion resistance in steam service.
