Siemens PPX:505–7028 thermocouple/mV input module for TI505 PLCs delivers eight isolated analog inputs for thermocouples or millivolt signals, all housed in a single I/O slot. It accepts thermocouple types J, K, T, E, R, S, N, plus millivolt signals, with an input range of +/-50 mV on every channel, and converts the sensor voltage into a signed value that can be reported as millivolts or converted to temperature readings in tenths of degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit. The 505–7028 supports automatic cold-junction compensation, calibration via pushbuttons and an LED display, and group configuration of all eight channels via DIP switches. Update time is 250 ms for 1–8 channels, with a channel-to-channel isolation of 300 V (rms) and input impedance greater than 10 MΩ. Averaging can be enabled for the last four readings, improving stability in noisy environments. The module draws about 2.5 W from the base rack and is designed specifically for the TI505 family (and compatibility with related TI505/ TI525-565 systems), enabling reliable, multi-point thermocouple monitoring in industrial control applications. Typical applications include process temperature monitoring, furnace or kiln control, and general laboratory temperature sensing where eight simultaneous thermocouple inputs are required.
