SICK VL18-4N3640 Photoelectric Sensor

The SICK VL18-4N3640 is a compact, cylindrical retro-reflective photoelectric sensor from the VL18 family designed for reliable part detection with a reflector. It measures 18 mm wide by 78 mm long, uses an M18 x 1 threaded housing, and features an axial optical axis. The sensor emits visible red light from an LED source and provides a 4-pin M12 connector with an NPN output option (VL18-4N3640) for 10 to 30 V DC supply. In standard operation it detects objects from 0.05 m to 3 m, with a maximum range to 3.7 m when used with reflector C110A. The light spot is about Ø150 mm at 3 m, and the optical dispersion is approximately 2.8°. With an estimated service life of 100,000 hours at +25 °C, this sensor is suited for automation tasks where a retroreflective configuration is appropriate, such as presence or position sensing along conveyors or equipment runs that incorporate a reflector.
