SICK NTL6-B11 Contrast Scanner
SICK NTL6-B11 Contrast Scanner
Description:
SICK NTL6-B11 is a compact fiber‑optic contrast sensor (part number 1008615) designed for reliable light/dark discrimination in industrial environments. The housing measures 80 mm wide by 30.4 mm high and 64 mm deep, with light emission on both the long and short sides of the enclosure and an exchangeable optical path selectable by the user. It supports either 660 nm visible red or 880 nm infrared illumination, enabling flexible contrast detection on various materials when paired with a fiber optic cable, whose characteristics determine the actual sensing distance and tolerance. Adjustment is via a potentiometer and the device provides a fixed light/dark switching mode for stable thresholding across backgrounds. Electrical constraints include a 10–30 V DC supply with ripple ≤ 5 Vpp and current draw under 80 mA; a switching frequency up to 10 kHz; and a response time greater than 50 µs. The switching output is configurable as PNP or NPN, and an analog output delivers 0.15–6 V with an internal 10 kΩ resistor; a 22 kΩ pull‑up/pull‑down resistor is included for common controller compatibility. The NTL6‑B11 is built for rugged industrial use and lists an average service life of 10,000 hours at TA = +25 °C. This contrast scanner enables reliable detection of defined marks or surface contrasts in automated lines while keeping the sensing element remote from the target via the fiber connection, making it suitable for applications where a remote sensing head enhances accessibility and maintenance of on‑line quality checks.
