Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories SEL-2506 Remote I/O Module
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories SEL-2506 Remote I/O Module
Description:
The SEL-2506 Rack-Mount Remote I/O Module from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories expands protection and teleprotection I/O by delivering eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs in a rugged, rack-mount enclosure. It communicates with SEL relays and other IEDs over a fiber-optic link, with port options including standard serial or V-pin fiber and an optional ST connector; transceiver compatibility spans SEL-2800 multimode (0–0.5 km), SEL-2815 multimode (2–15 km), SEL-2829 single-mode (0–23 km), SEL-2830 single-mode (16–80 km), and SEL-2831 single-mode (16–110 km). Front LEDs indicate input/output status, channel activity, device health, and communications health, and input labels are user-configurable. The eight outputs are rated for trip and close duty, and the terminal block accepts ring lugs up to #10 AWG. Inputs are level-sensitive and do not assert during DC grounds in center-grounded systems, supporting reliable teleprotection in challenging grounding environments. The module draws less than 5 W from its wide-range power supply, providing a low-power expansion for Mirrored Bits communications and protection schemes, and it includes alarm contacts to signal self-test and communications status. Designed for simple bus protection expansion or I/O extension for protection relays, the SEL-2506 enables local or remote monitoring and control without altering existing wiring.
