Description:

Schneider Electric Foxboro 8500A Magnetic Flowmeter, DN100 (4"), wafer version, is a robust inline meter for measuring the flow rate of electrically conductive liquids in industrial processes. It uses a magnetic field generated by field coils across a non-magnetic flow tube; as fluid passes, electrodes pick up a voltage proportional to mean velocity, which an IMT-series transmitter processes to deliver flow rate, totalizers, and programmable outputs. The wafer configuration supports flange connections and the 8500A family is offered in sizes from DN2.5 up to DN100 for industrial accuracy. Widely used for water and wastewater applications and other conductive liquids, the system specifies a minimum conductivity of about 5 μS/cm. Liner options include PFA (up to 3/8 in), PTFE (1/2 in to 24 in), and soft or hard rubber for larger sizes, with temperature ratings up to 100°C for PFA/PTFE liners and 80°C when rubber liners are used with meter-mounted configurations. Power is supplied from AC 85–265 VAC (typical 20 VA), and enclosures range from NEMA 4X (IP66) to submersible NEMA 6P when remote amplifiers are employed. Designed to pair with Schneider Electric’s Foxboro IMT transmitters, the 8500A wafer flow meters provide reliable, repeatable measurements in challenging environments and are specifically documented for water/wastewater and other conductive fluids.
