Schneider Electric 140DDI84100 Digital Input Module

Schneider Electric’s 140DDI84100 is a 16-channel discrete digital input module for the Modicon Quantum (X80) backplane, designed to read 16 input signals in the 10-60 V DC range and present them to the PLC as a single 16-bit input word. It is intended to interface with field devices such as pushbuttons, proximity sensors, and limit switches, enabling reliable monitoring and decision-making in automation applications like manufacturing lines, conveyors, and packaging. The module features LED indicators for each channel to show activity and integrates with the Modicon Quantum I/O system for synchronized scanning across the I/O bus. As of August 8, 2025, 140DDI84100 has been discontinued; Schneider Electric lists BMXDDI1602 (16 inputs, 24 V DC positive) and BMXDDI1603 (16 inputs, 48 V DC positive) as recommended replacements, with end-of-service planned for December 31, 2030. This 16-input digital input module remains part of the Modicon Quantum platform and serves to translate raw field signals into PLC-readable logic, supporting safety interlocks, machine state monitoring, and process control in industrial environments.
