Schneider Electric 140CPU11302 Programmable Logic Controller CPU Module

Schneider Electric 140CPU11302 is a Concept Processor for the Modicon Quantum PLC family, built around an 80186 core that runs at 20 MHz to handle industrial automation tasks. It provides 109 kB of internal RAM for program and data storage and includes one Modbus RS232 port plus one Modbus Plus port for field and network communications, enabling integration with remote I/O and other controllers. Designed as a standalone Quantum CPU, it supports distributed I/O configurations (about 30 input words and 32 output words) with up to 64 I/O words locally or remotely, and network I/O up to 500 in and 500 out. The 140CPU11302 was marketed as a Quantum concept processor and Schneider Electric notes it was discontinued on May 31, 2015, with end-of-service for standard support on December 31, 2026. For longer-term modernization, Schneider lists the 140CPU11302 as replaced by the standalone Modicon M580 family, which offers a significantly larger memory footprint (4 MB) and Ethernet connectivity to support broader device networking. This CPU module is suited to industrial control applications such as process control and machinery automation where Modbus RTU/Plus communications and a compact 80186-based compute core are advantageous.
