Schneider Electric ACE949-2 59642 is a two-wire RS485 interface module that connects Sepam protection relays to an RS485 network. It mounts on a symmetrical DIN rail and supports Sepam 20, 40, 60, and 80 series units, providing a differential EIA 2-wire RS485 electrical interface. The module accepts external power from 12 V DC or 24 V DC (±10%), draws about 16 mA in receive mode and up to 40 mA in transmit mode, and weighs 0.1 kg (0.22 lb). Its operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C, making it suitable for demanding industrial environments. Maximum RS485 network length depends on the number of Sepam units and the supply voltage: approximately 320 m (1000 ft) at 12 V for 5 Sepam units; up to 1000 m (3300 ft) at 24 V for 5 units; 180 m (590 ft)/750 m (2500 ft) for 10 units; 160 m (520 ft)/450 m (1500 ft) for 20 units; and 125 m (410 ft)/375 m (1200 ft) for 25 units. The ACE949-2 also acts as the main trunk connection point for the Sepam network, facilitating distribution of the primary network cable to a CCA612 cord.
