Schmersal SE-304C Industrial Safety Interlock Switch

The Schmersal SE-304C Evaluation Unit is a DIN-rail mounted safety-monitoring module that supervises up to four safety edges (SE‑T/SE‑R pairs) with one enabling path and a compact thermoplastic enclosure. It is designed for automatic or start-button initiated safety functions and operates from 24 V AC or 24 V DC with a typical draw of about 500 mA when four edges are monitored. The device provides a single semiconductor output (max 2 A at 230 VAC or 2 A at 24 V DC) and features an enabling/lock path, a 5‑LED status display, and monitored inputs for 4 edge channels with a feedback circuit. Mounting is on a standard DIN rail (EN 50022), terminals are screw-type, and the terminal area is IP20 while the enclosure is IP40. Electrical ratings follow EN 954-1 Category 3 for monitoring 1–4 safety edges, with utilisation categories AC‑15 and DC‑13 and a start-function option via trailing edge. A typical cable length for edge circuits can reach up to 200 m, and the response time of the safety signaling is under 17 ms, supporting reliable protection in fast stopping scenarios. The SE‑304C is specified for use with Schmersal safety-edge families such as SE‑40 and SE‑70, supports ambient temperatures from +5 °C to +55 °C, and offers a mechanical life exceeding 10 million cycles. Dimensions are 22.5 × 100 × 121 mm, and the module carries current approvals noted as “H” in preparation.
