Schmersal RSS36-ST-AS-2823 Safety Sensor Module

RSS36-ST-AS-2823 is a non‑contact safety sensor from Schmersal that monitors the position of movable safety guards using RFID-based universal coding and AS‑i Safety at Work communication. It transmits an individual 8×4‑bit safety code over the AS‑i network and is preset to address 0 by default, with the address changeable via the AS‑interface master or a handheld programming device. Housed in a thermoplastic enclosure, the device uses RFID coding to provide tamper‑resistant guard protection, with an optional integrated magnetic latch available in the R variant. The coding level is Low per EN ISO 14119, and the unit complies with EN IEC 60947‑5‑3, EN ISO 13849‑1, EN IEC 61508, EN IEC 62026‑2 and related standards for safety‑system integration. In guard‑door applications, it can function as a door end stop up to 5 kg at 0.25 m/s when used with a compatible safety monitor.
