Description:

Schmersal BNS 250-12ZG is a compact magnetic safety sensor designed for guard interlocks, delivering 24 VDC over a 4‑wire interface with 1 normally open (NO) and 2 normally closed (NC) contacts. It uses reed contacts in a non‑contact sensing arrangement and is actuated by a magnet on the door or guard, with the active sensing face oriented toward the actuator. The unit ships with a 1 m cable (4 conductors, 0.25 mm² / 23 AWG) and measures 13 mm (L) × 33 mm (W) × 25 mm (H); it carries IP67 protection and operates from -25 to +70 °C, withstanding 10–150 Hz vibrations and 30 g shocks. Electrical ratings include a maximum switching voltage of 24 VDC, maximum switching current of 0.01 A, and maximum switching power of 0.24 W, with an integrated status LED that illuminates when the guard door is open. Assured switching distances are Sao = 4 mm (ON) and Sar = 14 mm (OFF), in line with EN IEC 60947-5-3. The sensor provides three safety contacts and is intended to be used with an actuator ordered separately (for example, the BPS 250) along with compatible safety switchgear such as SRB‑E‑201LC or SRB‑E‑301ST. It conforms to safety classifications including EN ISO 13849-1, offering high lifecycle reliability (B10D values up to 25,000,000 operations for NC and NC/NO configurations).
