Schmersal BNS 250-12ZG Coded Magnetic Safety Switch

The Schmersal BNS 250-12ZG is a coded magnetic safety switch used in industrial machine guarding to monitor the position of safety doors, guards, and access panels without mechanical contact. As a safety sensor for safety-rated control circuits, it utilizes coded magnetic field detection and an external coded magnet (BPS series compatible) to reliably sense guard position, with a contact configuration of 1 NO / 2 NC safety contacts. The device features a reinforced thermoplastic housing with IP67 protection and supports concealed or surface mounting, a 4-wire cable (~1 m) for installation, and an operating voltage up to 24 V DC (safety circuit dependent) within a -25°C to +70°C range. This configuration, along with its reed/safety-rated magnetic switching principle, makes it suitable for sliding or hinged safety doors on automated production lines, packaging machinery, robotic cells, and other industrial equipment where guarding prevents machinery from operating when barriers are open.
