Schmersal AZ16-03ZVRK-M20 Safety Interlock Switch

Schmersal AZ16-03ZVRK-M20 is a key‑operated safety interlock switch from the AZ16 family, housed in a fiberglass‑reinforced thermoplastic enclosure and designed to guard access to hazardous machinery. It delivers three normally‑closed safety contacts (3NC) across three actuating directions, with an M20 cable entry and three M16 x 1.5 cable glands for wiring; the actuator must be ordered separately. The unit measures 52 mm wide, 90 mm high and 30 mm deep, weighs about 115 g, and carries IP67 protection for dust and water ingress in harsh environments. Electrical ratings include safety contacts up to AC‑15 230 VAC, 4 A and DC‑13 24 VDC, 4 A, with the same ratings for auxiliary contacts, and a rated insulation voltage of 500 V with a 6 kV impulse withstand; the device is designed for fault‑tolerant operation within EN ISO 13849‑1, offering safety performance up to PL d, Category 3 when used with appropriate logic. Mechanical data include a latching force of 30 N, a positive break travel of 8 mm, and a minimum positive break force of 30 N; actuating speed is up to 2 m/s, and the mechanical life is at least 1,000,000 operations. Mounting is through two M6 screws, with three cable glands and screw terminals for 0.25–2.5 mm² conductors. Note: the actuator is not included in the scope of delivery. This interlock is well suited for machine guarding where reliable door interlocking is required to ensure safe stop of hazardous motion when the door is opened.
