The SAUTER EK502466E000 Turret Control is a compact, autonomous control unit that runs SAUTER tool turrets without a dedicated tool-drive interface. It fully implements turret logic, enabling rotation, indexing, locking and status monitoring for SAUTER turret series 0.5.320.0xx, 0.5.473.5xx, and 0.5.480.2xx/5xx, and it reports faults back to the machine control. The EK502 (along with the EK501 EEPROM) can be updated via removable media (EEPROM or SD-card), allowing software updates without altering the host controller. It provides a 2.0 A power output for turret drive signals and achieves response times under 20 ms to support rapid indexing and reliable operation. DIP switches configure turret size, rotation sense, and the number of positions, while binary-coded failure messages are available on outputs and the unit's display for fast diagnostics. The turret control monitors both the turret’s own functions and the status of any attached tool-drive system, delivering fault-tolerant operation and helping extend turret life.
