Red Lion Controls ASTC0000 In-Line Amplifier & Pulse Shaper for Magnetic Pickups is a compact, epoxy‑encapsulated inline preamplifier that boosts magnetic pickup signals by more than 100x and translates them into a robust NPN open‑collector pulse output suitable for digital interfacing. It accepts ultra‑low input levels with an input sensitivity of 20 mV and a maximum input of 16 Vrms, with sensitivity increasing as frequency rises, enabling operation at ultra‑low threshold speeds and pulse rates up to 10 kHz. Operated from +9 to +30 VDC at up to 25 mA, the unit is designed for long cable runs and should be placed close to the pickup, with input and output cables kept separate from power lines. The device’s stainless steel shell measures 0.9 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches long overall, including neoprene strain‑reliefs, and it remains functional across a temperature range of -18°C to +60°C. For reliability, both magnetic pickup leads must float (do not ground the shield).
