The Allen-Bradley 1761-NET-ENI Ethernet Interface Module is a backplane-mounted gateway that gives legacy SLC 500 and MicroLogix PLCs Ethernet access by bridging their DF1 serial communications to an Ethernet network. It installs in a 1761 backplane slot and provides a single 10 Mbps RJ-45 Ethernet port for network connectivity to controllers, HMIs, SCADA, and control software. The ENI supports EtherNet/IP connectivity for the connected PLC, enabling data exchange, remote monitoring, and integration with modern automation systems while preserving compatibility with existing DF1-based programs. Configuration is performed through the module’s IP address settings; a built-in Web server facilitates on-site setup, status checks, and simple maintenance without external software. The device is powered from the backplane, requiring no separate external supply, and relies on the controller’s power for operation.
