The Mitsubishi Electric FX5-40SSC-S is a compact simple motion control module that delivers coordinated multi-axis servo control for the MELSEC iQ-F PLC platform. Designed to install in the FX5 series PLC expansion slot and commonly used with FX5U/FX5UC PLCs, it supports up to 4 axes and provides positioning, interpolation, synchronous control, and cam control over SSCNET III/H at speeds up to 150 Mbps full duplex. It supports Mitsubishi MR-J3, MR-J4, and MR-JE servo amplifiers and enables linear and circular interpolation as well as continuous trajectory control, with features such as S-curve acceleration/deceleration, cam auto-generation, real-time monitoring of servo data, and common replacements/alternatives including FX3U-20SSC-H (older generation equivalent). Common applications include packaging machines, material handling, CNC equipment, and automated production lines where synchronized motion and precise positioning drive performance, with programming performed using GX Works3.
