Description:

The EH201224A is a semi-flush mount electromagnetic door holder and releasing device from SDC Security Door Controls, designed to hold doors open and release the door by a remote switch or fire life-safety system activation. This 12/24 VAC/DC unit arrives with a chrome powder coat finish and dual-voltage configuration, offering a selectable holding force of 25, 30, 35, or 40 pounds depending on the operating voltage. It draws low current—typically in the 15–40 mA range—to deliver reliable holding force with reduced power consumption. Installation features include screw-terminal block input connections, a self-aligning catch plate, and an adjustable magnet centerline with slotted mounting holes for precise alignment. The EH201224A is intended to be used in conjunction with a door closer to ensure full closure when released. In classroom lockdown contexts, it is described as a locking/egress-control device that can respond to lockdown activations in addition to power loss or fire life-safety events. The design includes a ball pivot assembly to maintain full surface contact for consistent holding force and, if needed, optional rod compensation supports misalignment up to four inches. This model is part of SDC’s EH Series, which encompasses a range of door-holder and releasing devices engineered for hold-open and controlled release in life-safety and security applications.
