The Bogen VAR1 Voice-Activated Relay is a DPDT relay device that is activated by audio detected at the microphone preamp or at 70V, 25V, or 600-ohm line inputs, and it then closes two sets of C-Form contacts (both normally open and normally closed) in response. The VOX detect circuit offers adjustable volume/sensitivity and a release delay adjustable from 0.25 seconds to 25 seconds, with a separate trigger‑threshold control and a relay active indicator. The VAR1 operates from a DC power source (12–24 V DC, power supply not included) with the top jack or terminal connections; the recommended Bogen PRS40C power supply is commonly used.
