Blackburn 500HPS Split-Bolt Connector With Spacer is a high-strength lug used to splice copper, aluminum, and ACSR conductors in power distribution work, featuring a plated split-bolt design with a spacer for solid main-and-tap connections. It accepts equal-main-and-tap configurations from 397.5–1/0 ACSR and 500 kcmil–1/0 stranded copper or aluminum conductors, with a minimum tap of 1/0 Str when a single maximum main is used. The assembly employs a copper-alloy bolt and pressure bar that are electroplated with tin for corrosion resistance, paired with a contoured spacer (electrolytic copper) suitable for large conductor sizes, and a bolt size of 1-1/2 x 3-1/32 in with a 0.842 in split and a 1-7/8 in hex nut for secure closure. It is UL-listed and CSA-certified for copper conductors, with Blackburn Contax paste recommended when used on aluminum conductors. Typical applications include distributing splices in overhead or underground power networks where a reliable, code-appropriate split-bolt connection is required.
