Beckhoff KL5101 Incremental Encoder Interface

Beckhoff KL5101 is a 1-channel incremental encoder interface terminal designed for direct connection of incremental encoders to Beckhoff's KL bus automation system. It provides A, A(inv), B, B(inv), Null, and Null(inv) input signals and accepts both differential RS422 and TTL-level encoder outputs, enabling reliable quadrature signal capture at frequencies up to 1 MHz. The module operates on 5 V DC logic levels and is intended to be mounted on a KL bus with a compatible Beckhoff Bus Coupler or PLC. As a single-channel interface, it accommodates encoders that output either differential RS422 or TTL signals, translating the encoder’s quadrature transitions into position counts for the control system.
