Beckhoff IP5209-B318 Power Distribution Block

Beckhoff IP5209-B318 is a fieldbus box that provides a single-channel SinCos encoder interface for PROFIBUS networks, designed for direct connection of precise rotary encoders to a Beckhoff control system. It features an integrated tee-connector for service-phase power and uses an M23 signal connector for the encoder interface, with a SinCos 1 Vpp signal output. The module is powered through 1 x M8 four-pin feed and provides a downstream 1 x M8 four-pin connection, simplifying daisy-chain installations in compact control cabinets. The IP5209-Bxxx family supports a compact process image, here delivering 2 × 32-bit data words in addition to an 8-bit control/status field, enabling efficient data exchange between the encoder and the host controller over PROFIBUS. Applications include motion control and precise position sensing where SinCos feedback is required, such as spindle drives, CNC axes, or rotary encoders feeding a PROFIBUS-based PLC.
