Beckhoff EL9550 is a system terminal module in the EL9xxx EtherCAT Terminal family that combines a surge filter with both system and field power distribution into a single rugged unit, protecting the EtherCAT bus and field devices from transient voltages while simplifying cabling for terminal stations in harsh environments. The EL9550 family includes two documented variants: EL9550-0010, which provides a total field and system supply of 10 A and includes diagnostics to monitor the terminal network, and EL9550-0012, designed for operation in particularly harsh environments such as onshore and offshore installations with enhanced protection against electrical disturbances. By integrating surge filtering with power delivery, the EL9550 helps guard downstream digital terminals and reduces the risk of damage from voltage spikes, enabling more reliable operation of industrial automation systems and streamlined wiring in rugged applications.
