Beckhoff EL6021 PLC Module

Beckhoff EL6021 is a 1-channel EtherCAT serial interface terminal that provides an RS422/RS485 serial port to connect devices to an EtherCAT network. It is powered from the E‑bus with no separate supply required, and configuration is done via TwinCAT System Manager with no internal address setting needed. The module supports TXD and RXD in full- or half‑duplex modes and baud rates from 2400 to 115200 baud (default 9600), using 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit. It includes an 864‑byte receive buffer and a 128‑byte transmit buffer, and features an RS422/RS485 differential interface with a line impedance of 120 Ω and a maximum cable length of 1000 m. Electrical isolation between the E‑bus and the serial interface is rated at 500 V. The EL6021 weighs approximately 55 g and draws about 170 mA from the E‑bus (short‑circuit current up to around 250 mA). As part of the EL600x/EL602x family, it requires no individual addressing and is configured through Beckhoff’s TwinCAT tooling. Typical applications include linking RS422/RS485 devices such as sensors, meters, or other serial instruments to an EtherCAT master for integrated automation control.
