Description:

Allen-Bradley 56RF-IN-IPD22A is a dual‑channel EtherNet/IP RFID interface block that adds two 13.56 MHz RFID transceivers to a Rockwell Automation network and provides two discrete 24 VDC inputs (no outputs). It is designed for EtherNet/IP integration, supporting 10/100 Mbps communication with either full- or half-duplex operation and using CIP Class 3 explicit messages to control and query the RFID transceivers. The module measures 179 × 37 × 43.25 mm (7.05 × 1.46 × 1.7 in) and is powered from 24 V DC, with an auxiliary current capacity up to 4 A per module; each input can draw up to 5 mA at 30 V, and each I/O port can supply up to 100 mA at 24–30 V. LED indicators convey quick status: Module Status, Network Status, Link Status, Auxiliary Power, and I/O Status. The 56RF family is designed for RFID tag read/write workflows integrated into industrial control systems, enabling tag data to be exposed to PLCs and HMIs via Ethernet/IP explicit communications rather than traditional scanning I/O. IPD22A, in particular, is documented as the Dual Channel variant with two inputs and no discrete outputs, distinguishing it from other 56RF configurations that include outputs, such as IPS12 or IPD22. This combination of dual transceivers, two inputs, and EtherNet/IP connectivity makes the IPD22A suitable for applications requiring RFID asset tracking, access control, or process monitoring within a Rockwell automation ecosystem.
