Allen-Bradley 42MRU-5000 Photoelectric Sensor

The Allen-Bradley PHOTOSWITCH 42MRU-5000 is a modular infrared photoelectric sensor head in the PHOTOSWITCH 5000 family, designed for non-contact detection of targets in industrial environments. This Green Line retroreflective sensor uses an infrared sensing beam to detect objects at up to 10 m (33 ft) when used with a reflector and delivers a fast 1 ms response time, with output available in a selectable NPN or PNP, three-wire configuration. As part of the 5000 Series, the 42MRU-5000 family (including related models such as 42MRU-5200) is documented by Rockwell Automation and, per Rockwell’s lifecycle notices, the 5000 Series modular sensors were discontinued on February 28, 2023. Typical applications include inline sensing on conveyors, presence/absence checks for packages or components, and other automation tasks where a reflector-based sensing scheme is advantageous and where integration with Allen-Bradley controllers is desired.
