Allen-Bradley 22-COMM-E PowerFlex EtherNet/IP Communications Adapter

The Allen-Bradley 22-COMM-E PowerFlex EtherNet/IP Communications Adapter adds native EtherNet/IP connectivity to compatible PowerFlex drives by mounting inside a PowerFlex 40 drive. It serves as the EtherNet/IP interface for the drive, with PowerFlex 40, 40P, and 400 drives acting as the host using the Drive System Interface (DSI) to connect to EtherNet/IP networks, enabling PLCs and other Ethernet/IP devices to exchange drive data and control messages. Status indicators report the status of the drive communications to aid diagnostics. By default, the adapter uses BOOTP for initial IP addressing, and can be configured to alternate IP addresses without BOOTP to suit site networks. This makes it a common choice for integrating PowerFlex drives into Ethernet/IP control architectures such as CompactLogix or ControlLogix, allowing access to drive data—such as status, speed, and fault information—over the EtherNet/IP protocol while keeping the drive logic on the PowerFlex controller. The 22-COMM-E is a dedicated PowerFlex communications option designed specifically for EtherNet/IP connectivity within the PowerFlex family.
