The Allen-Bradley 1771-IQ16 Isolated DC Input Module is a 16-point input interface for PLC-5 backplanes that reads discrete 24V DC signals from field devices. It accepts 10–32 V DC sensor inputs and draws up to 100 mA from the backplane to power its input circuitry, while providing electrical isolation to reduce noise and cross-talk on the input channels. The module does not supply field-side power; the sensors and other field devices must be powered from an external DC supply, with the IQ16 used to condition and report input states to the controller. Note that 1771-IQ16 is not compatible with the 1771-AL local I/O adapter.
