Allen-Bradley 1770-KFD Devicenet Communication Interface

The Allen-Bradley 1770-KFD Devicenet Communication Interface is a portable RS-232 to DeviceNet bridge that lets a PC talk to a DeviceNet network, making it possible to configure, diagnose, and browse DeviceNet devices from a host computer. As part of the 1770 family, the 1770-KFD provides a dedicated RS-232 PC interface for accessing a DeviceNet network and is used with Rockwell software such as RSNetWorx for DeviceNet or the DeviceNet Manager (1787-MGR) to control data flow and interact with I/O on the network. On the DeviceNet side, the module connects to a DeviceNet network via standard cabling and supports both direct, point-to-point connections to a single device and access to a multi-device DeviceNet network through the same interface. In practical use, technicians deploy the 1770-KFD to configure and monitor DeviceNet networks from a PC, enabling reading and writing of device data, status inspection, and communication troubleshooting without requiring the PC to be directly on the DeviceNet side.
