Allen-Bradley 1769-SM2 PowerFlex DSi Modbus RTU Interface Module

The Allen-Bradley 1769-SM2 PowerFlex DSi Modbus RTU Interface Module is a Compact I/O communication module that sits in a 1769 Compact I/O backplane to connect PowerFlex drives to a Logix controller using Drive Serial Interface (DSI) and the Modbus RTU protocol. It provides three DSI/Modbus RTU channels, enabling a single module to manage multiple PowerFlex devices on one bus, including drives that use Modbus RTU-based communication such as PowerFlex 4-Class. In a Multi-Drive configuration, the 1769-SM2 can operate as a Modbus RTU Master or Slave and supports up to 31 RTU slave devices on the network. Compatibility covers PowerFlex 4-Class options and PowerFlex 7-Class drives, with PowerFlex 7-Class connections enabled via the 20-COMM-H RS485 HVAC adapter, making the module a bridge between Compact I/O and the PowerFlex drive family.
