Allen-Bradley 1769-OW8 Eight-Channel Relay Output Module

Allen-Bradley 1769-OW8 CompactLogix Eight-Channel Relay Output Module provides eight relay outputs for CompactLogix controllers, wired into the 1769 I/O backplane to drive external devices from ladder logic. Each channel switches AC or DC loads in a 5–265 V range, enabling control of relays, contactors, or indicator circuits without loading the PLC’s internal I/O. The OW8 is part of the CompactLogix 1769 I/O family; an isolated version exists as 1769-OW8I for applications requiring electrical isolation between the controller and the loads. Powering the module and its backplane requires compatible 1769 power supplies, including 1769-PA2, 1769-PA4, 1769-PB2, and 1769-PB4, to support installation in a CompactLogix rack. Common applications include discrete relay control in automation sequences, signaling and interlock circuits, and external devices such as relays or motor starters, all managed directly by a CompactLogix PLC without external relays driving the controller outputs.
