Allen-Bradley 1769-IQ16 16-Channel DC Input Module

The Allen-Bradley 1769-IQ16 is a 16-channel digital input module for the Compact I/O family that reads 24 V DC signals from field devices into a CompactLogix/1769-compatible controller. It provides 16 independent input points that accept an input range of 10–30 V DC and supports both sinking and sourcing wiring configurations for flexible sensor and switch wiring. The module mounts in a 1769 Compact I/O chassis and communicates over the 1769 I/O bus, making it suitable for scalable, distributed control on industrial machines, conveyors, and packaging lines. For wiring, the terminal block accepts copper conductors 22–14 AWG solid or 22–16 AWG stranded. As part of the Compact I/O ecosystem, the IQ16 pairs with compatible controllers to deliver reliable discrete-input data to ladder logic or other PLC programs, enabling accurate monitoring of devices such as pushbuttons, proximity switches, limit switches, and other 24 V DC sensors. Typical applications include machine safety interlocks, process start/stop signaling, and status indication across automated workflows where numerous digital inputs must be read in real time.
