Allen-Bradley 1769-IF16C Analog Current Input Module
Allen-Bradley 1769-IF16C Analog Current Input Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1769-IF16C is a 16-channel compact, high-density analog current input module designed for CompactLogix controllers. Each of the 16 channels is single-ended and configurable for 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA input, with full-scale ranges of 0–21 mA or 3.2–21 mA, respectively, allowing direct connection to most 4–20 mA transmitters. The module uses a Sigma-Delta ADC with 16-bit resolution in unipolar mode or 15 bits plus sign for bipolar range, translating each channel’s current into precise process values while supporting a common-mode voltage range up to ±10 V DC per channel and an input impedance of about 249 Ω. For noise reduction, it offers a selectable 16 Hz filter and provides robust common-mode rejection greater than 60 dB at 50/60 Hz. The 1769-IF16C operates in a power environment up to 30 V AC or 30 V DC and draws about 190 mA at 5.1 V or 70 mA at 24 V, with a maximum heat dissipation around 4.0 W. Its accuracy is specified as ±0.5% full-scale at 25 °C, with temperature drift around ±0.0045% per °C, nonlinearity of ±0.03%, and repeatability of ±0.03%, and module error of about 1.25%. Overload protection at the input terminals is rated to about ±28 mA continuous and up to roughly ±7.6 V, safeguarding against typical field conditions. This 16-channel current input module is ideal for high-density monitoring of loop-powered or self-powered 4–20 mA sensors in industrial automation, enabling precise, scalable current measurement within CompactLogix control architectures.
