Allen-Bradley 1756-HSC High Speed Counter Module
Allen-Bradley 1756-HSC High Speed Counter Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1756-HSC High Speed Counter Module is a two-channel ControlLogix I/O card that adds fast, hardware-timed counting to your rack. Each channel exposes a 24‑bit counter with inputs A, B, and Z, supporting encoder and pulse counting with digital signals that can be single-ended or differential and run at 5 V or 12–24 V DC. The module includes four on‑board outputs on a 36‑pin interface and draws about 300 mA from the backplane at 5 V (3 mA at 24 V), with outputs configured for 5 V DC at 20 mA or 10–30 V DC at 1 A and electronic fusing. Configurable modes cover Counter, Encoder x1, Encoder x4, and Frequency, enabling counting, rate measurement, or triggering actions based on count events. This card is designed for ControlLogix backplanes and is commonly wired via standard RTB accessories such as 1756-TBCH or 1756-TBS6H for reliable, high‑speed interfacing. Typical applications include high‑speed motion or conveyor systems, encoder-based position or speed sensing, and deterministic count-driven control, where precise, two‑channel counting and generated outputs must synchronize with the controller’s logic.
