Allen-Bradley 1746-NI8 SLC 500 Analog Input Module
Allen-Bradley 1746-NI8 SLC 500 Analog Input Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1746-NI8 is an eight-channel, non-isolated differential analog input module for the SLC 500 family, with per-channel configuration for voltage or current signals. Each channel can accept voltage ranges of 0–5 V, 0–10 V, or ±10 V, or current ranges of 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA, allowing flexible sensing of sensors and current loops across automation systems. The module provides 16‑bit resolution across all channels using a successive-approximation, switched-capacitor ADC, and features a programmable low‑pass input filter (1 Hz, 2 Hz, 5 Hz, 10 Hz, 20 Hz, 50 Hz, or 75 Hz) with continuous autocalibration for accuracy. It offers robust noise rejection with common‑mode rejection of ≥75 dB at DC and ≥100 dB at 50/60 Hz. The NI8 installs in any SLC 500 I/O chassis slot except slot 0 and draws power from the backplane (backplane current up to 200 mA at 5 V and 100 mA at 24 V, up to about 3.4 W). Typical applications include reading 0–10 V transducers and 4–20 mA process loops into an RSLogix 500 program for monitoring, data logging, or closed‑loop control in industrial environments.
